About Our Knives and Dies
Welcome to WPM's Cutting Technology Division, a 28,000 square foot facility dedicated to the manufacturing of precision knives, steel rule dies, and die tooling that have become the industry standard for contour and intricate products. WPM pioneered and improved rotary die cutting during the late 1960s but has been a manufacturer of custom graphic arts equipments since 1933. Today WPM has implemented years of experience in developing and applying its patented rotary steel rule die cutting technology with respect to rotary cutters around the world. WPM's distinct rotary die cutting ability along with the use of the WPM rotary steel rule cutting dies enables dependable die cutting of complex patterns not possible by other processes. Some of the conventional die cutting applications that are done on a WPM rotary cutter with the assistance of the rotary steel rule dies are perforating, scoring, straight cross web diecutting, die cutting with reliable scrap removal. The WPM inline rotary die cutting system has been very successful in abounding installations of disposables such as sanitary pads, diapers, hospital shoe covers, gowns, surgical drapes, plastic aprons, plastic bags, paper bags, pizza boxes, and many other converting applications. In other markets WPM has involvement in such products as processing paper, paperboard, corrugated, metalized paper, and many other materials.
Supporting WPM's Rotary Die Cutters and Rotary Cutters for both the graphic arts and converting industries, the Cutting Technology Division is the heart of our value added approach to precision cutting systems. There is no one else in the Graphic Arts or Converting industries who can offer a complete system of precision cutting machinery, custom rotary steel rule knives, rotary steel rule dies, and WPM TruFlex® flexible dies. The WPM TruCut® rotary die cutting system is based on a patented "Block Molded" curved die principle. Unlike conventional all steel dies, TruCut® rotary steel rule dies are much more economically priced.
Here at WPM we pride in a quick turnaround on all steel rule die tooling orders. Computer generated TruCut® rotary steel rule cutting dies and TruFlex® flexible dies are usually made and shipped in 2-5 days. Their rigid plastic shell construction is light weight and saves money on shipping costs. The cutting dies are typically replaced when on longer usable. WPM TruCut® Rotary steel rule dies provide a longer and trouble-free operation. The custom rotary steel rule cutting dies are much easier and safer to handle while mounting. Roll and mill splices do not affect the die cut system. The WPM Cutting Technology Division employs state of the art CNC and CAD/CAM Technology combined with such highly trained and experienced rotary die makers, that the average employee has more than 15 years of service!
