WPM PreFolder systems are designed to create added value to the standard products which most web offset printing press folders are capable of producing. In addition to standard tabloid, broadsheet, quarter fold and signature work, WPM PreFolders allow additional product formats including multiple pages and gate folded covers or pull outs. The basic system incorporates two functions; web shifting or ribbon creation plus repositioning and plow folding a portion of the web or ribbons prior to entering the press folder.
WPM manufacturers five standard PreFolders for the commercial printer. These units are designed to provide the maximum product versatility from a combination folder or double former folder. They are available in all standard press repeat and web width sizes.
WPM PreFolders can be enhanced to include multiple webs/ribbons or plow folding sections which allows the printer to make unique or special products.
WPM Model PFA
The Model PFA PreFolder is designed for use with a combination folder on a 38" wide press. It is designed to slit the web into two ribbons and repositioning them as they relate to the center line of the folder or re-direct them to either side of the former. Ribbons can also be plow folded prior to entrance to the folder. A variety of unique products can be produced beyond normal signature formats.
WPM Model PFB
The Model PFB PreFolder is designed for use with a combination folder on a 26.5" wide press. It is designed to shift the entire web off the center line and then plow a portion of it to create a variety of products through the use of the press folder such as oblong or square format products.
WPM Model PFC
The Model PFC PreFolder is designed to slit the web into two ribbons of equal or unequal size and then stack prior to entering the press folder. WPM PFC PreFolders are built modular and can be stacked for multiple web/ribbon combinations.
WPM Model PFD
The Model PFD PreFolder is designed for use with a Double Former Folder. It is designed to shift the entire web off center line and then plow a portion of it to create a variety of unique products through the use of the press folder.
WPM Model PFG
The Model PFG Plow Folder is a 2 stream single station plow module that is designed to be mounted over any folder, angle bars or PreFolder. It is capable of plow folding either or both edges of a web prior to entrance to the folder.
